Missions & Objectives
MISSION
MAIN mission is to contribute to strengthen the capacities of microfinance institutions through the establishment of an African program for the promotion and consolidation of inclusive finance in a process of economic, social and environmental development of the continent. In the center of the mission of MAIN, is a desire to promote the SSE (Social and Solidarity Economy) on the African continent.
OBJECTIVES
Strengthening the operational capacities of the African microfinance institutions so that they can provide sustained and appropriate product and services to their clients.
Providing a forum of reflection and exchange to African microfinance institutions to undesrtand better their environment and internalize the issue that influence their operations at national and international level and enable them to integrate their activities in the global developpement process..
Governance bodies
I- General Meeting
Composed of ordinary members, delegates of affiliate members and delegates of honorary members. It meets every two years and decides on the general orientation of the association.
II- The Board of directors
Composed of a chairperson, a vice-chairperson, a treasurer and four members. It meets every six months to monitor the implementation of programs and projects and decides on budgets. It controls the resources of the association and appoints the executive director of the network

5- Mrs. MUTABARUKA Nadine, Member (WISE, Burundi)
6- Mrs. SAKIOUDI AMINA, Member (CMS, Maroc)
7- Prof. DDUMBA- SSENTAMU John, Member (CENTENARY, Ouganda)
III- The Executive Direction
Responsible for the implementation of the objectives and strategies. The Executive Direction develops programs and activities in coordination with the member institutions, organizes seminars, training workshops and exchange programs. It publishes the network’s newsletter and mobilizes the resources required to implement the activities.

Mr. ODANOU is the Chief Executive Officer of the Coopérative d’Epargne et de Crédit des Artisans (CECA), was formerly the President of African Microfinance Transparency (AMT). He was elected Chairman of the Board of the MAIN network in 2019 and re-elected in 2023. He also serves as a permanent board member representing CECA at the board of CIF-VIE Assurances and as a permanent board member representing APSFD-TOGO at the board of the Centre de Formation Bancaire du Togo (CFBT).

Kimanthi Mutua (KM) is a renowned professional in the field of Financial Inclusion and Microfinance. KM founded K-Rep Bank and served as the CEO until his retirement in March 2010. For close to twenty years, KM was a faculty member of the Boulder Institute of Microfinance

Vice-Chairman
Since 2009, she has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Mutuelle d’Epargne et de Crédit AFRICA FINANCES. She also served as the Secretary General of the Association Professionnelle des Systèmes Financiers Décentralisés du Bénin (APSFD-Bénin) from 2016 to 2018 and from 2020 to 2022. Since 2019, she has been a board member of the MAIN network and has been its Treasurer General since 2023.

Currently Director of Partnerships and Operations at SIDI, he has been representing SIDI on the MAIN Board of Directors since October 2023. After spending 5 years working for MFIs in Madagascar and Tanzania, Joan PENCHE has been involved in financing and supporting MFIs, mainly in Africa, since 2015.

Professor JOHN DDUMBA-SSENTAMU is a distinguished figure in the field of Economics. Professor Ddumba-Ssentamu is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Centenary Rural Development Group Ltd and previously was Chairman of Centenary Rural Development Bank Ltd for seventeen years. Board member of MAIN since 2005.

An economist by training and the General Director of Women’s Initiative for Self Empowerment (WISE s.a.), she is a member of the Executive Committee of the Microfinance Institutions Network (RIM) in Burundi and a member of the joint committee of the Central Bank of Burundi.

As the current General Director of the Mohamed VI Center for Support to Solidarity Microfinance, Mrs. Sakioudi has been a key figure in several major mergers and acquisitions. She is also recognized for her commitment to financial inclusion and sustainable development in Africa.
